UNDERSTATED LUXURY
This mid-1990s traditional charmer in West University needed a breath of fresh air, beginning with opening up spaces to forge airy rooms more suitable for sophisticated empty nesters. After making walls disappear and opening up the kitchen, light colors, soft fabrics and cosmopolitan finishes welcome metallics and crystal to render a sense of understated luxury.
The design study bloomed from a sumptuous fabric the client had acquired while on a globe-trotting adventure to Turkey. Amethyst and muted emerald hues with gold threads running through inspired a palette of pale, grayish orchids and muted moss green punctuated by bits of gold and white quartz.
